icejam is an independent technology innovator and game development studio founded by industry veteran Stuart Duncan, who led the teams behind smash hits Trade Nations and The Simpsons: Tapped Out.

Since our founding in 2014, we’ve been building and prototyping a revolutionary new game experience: Playable Data™, which integrates real-world data with your game in real time. With live data directly affecting your gameplay, your experience in the game world will always stay relevant to the world around you, and no two sessions will ever be the same.

What’s New

Things are heating up at icejam! After the initial development of our powerful Playable Data™ engine (PDE), we built Quarks! Stargaze Island to test-drive the platform. This inaugural title featured gameplay driven by the player’s actual weather in real time. Players instantly fell in love with the concept, and we’ve been incorporating all we’ve learned into version 2.0 of the PDE.

Now we’re ramping up production on something much, much bigger. We’re partnering with a globally recognized brand on an exciting new project. The studio is buzzing with creative energy—there’s never been a more exhilarating time to work here.

Stuart Duncan

CEO and Founder

Former Director, EA Mobile, Charlottetown; former CEO and Founder of Bight Games

Stuart is a mobile games veteran and the founder in 2004 of Bight Games, one of the first free-to-play mobile game studios.

Under his direction, Bight achieved breakout success with Trade Nations, an original IP that occupied the top grossing iOS games charts for over a year and set the stage for Bight’s successful acquisition by EA Mobile. Bight subsequently conceived, developed and produced the massive hit The Simpsons: Tapped Out which has eclipsed $100 million in life-to-date digital net revenue, and since its launch in 2012, has been in the top 20 iPhone grossing games in the U.S. for all but 12 days.

Following Bight’s acquisition by EA, Stuart was the Head of EA Mobile in Charlottetown leading its growth and architecting the success of The Simpsons: Tapped Out. After a brief time off, Stuart founded icejam to bring to life his vision for the company’s Playable Data™ gaming platform.





Marc Alloul

Corporate Development

An Engineer/Physicist turned entrepreneur, Marc spent the last eighteen years in both large publicly traded as well as smaller private equity funded companies where he developed and brought to market innovative technology & marketing solutions to some of the world’s leading telecom operators and media groups.

Marc is currently Managing Partner of W2/W3 Investments, a private Québec investment firm that targets businesses with high growth potential, as well as strategic advisor to several companies where he is a shareholder, board member or mentor. As an active member of the management team, he instrumented the sale of Bight Games to Electronic Arts, Mobitween to Zed Group, Airborne Entertainment to Cybird and Indiqu to Mforma/Hands-on Mobile; Marc is a veteran in the mobile entertainment industry.

Marc holds a M.Sc. in Quantum Physics from McGill University, Canada, a M.Sc. in Mobile Communications from the EURECOM Institute, Sophia Antipolis, France, and graduated from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications (ENST), Paris.





Christian Southgate

Head of Engineering

Christian Southgate is a software development veteran with over 20 years of experience developing dozens of games across all platforms. Equally at home as a team leader or as a team member, Christian is a seasoned programmer and an excellent mentor.
