evolving free-to-play
We build games that respond to the world around us.

Pioneers in Playable Data™

icejam is an independent technology innovator and game development studio founded by industry veteran Stuart Duncan, who led the teams behind smash hits Trade Nations and The Simpsons: Tapped Out.

Since our founding in 2014, we’ve been building and prototyping a revolutionary new game experience: Playable Data™, which integrates real-world data with your game in real time. With live data directly affecting your gameplay, your experience in the game world will always stay relevant to the world around you, and no two sessions will ever be the same.

We call this experience Connected Reality.

Connected Reality

Here's how it works

Real life

It all starts here. Your device is contextually aware of the world around you: your location, the time of day, the local weather… everything.

Live data

Traffic flows, market fluctuations, GPS coordinates, temperature—it’s all data, and where there’s data, there’s a game waiting to be made.

Playable Data™ engine

Our proprietary Playable Data™ engine processes this wealth of information and puts it straight into your game, while you’re playing it.

And now the fun part! Your game changes on the fly, dynamically keeping pace with the world around you.

What’s New

Things are heating up at icejam! After the initial development of our powerful Playable Data™ engine (PDE), we built Quarks! Stargaze Island to test-drive the platform. This inaugural title featured gameplay driven by the player’s actual weather in real time. Players instantly fell in love with the concept, and we’ve been incorporating all we’ve learned into version 2.0 of the PDE.

Now we’re ramping up production on something much, much bigger. We’re partnering with a globally recognized brand on an exciting new project. The studio is buzzing with creative energy—there’s never been a more exhilarating time to work here.
